The Anthurium scherzerianum is a tropical herbaceous species native to Costa Rica and nearby regions of Central America, where it grows in humid forests under the protection of the tree canopy. It forms compact clumps of bright green leaves and reaches between 30 and 60 cm in height at maturity. Its main ornamental attraction is its characteristic inflorescence, composed of an intensely colored spathe—generally red, orange, or pink—and a curved, spiral-shaped spadix. It can bloom at different times of the year under favorable conditions, offering a long decorative season. In tropical ecosystems, its flowers participate in ecological relationships with pollinating insects and contribute to the plant diversity of the understory.

Care
Care
It requires a light, airy substrate rich in organic matter, similar to that used for tropical aroids, with components such as pine bark, coconut fiber, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Watering should be moderate, keeping the substrate slightly moist but never saturated; usually, watering once or twice a week will suffice, adjusting the frequency according to temperature and ambient humidity. During the growth phase, it is recommended to fertilize every two to four weeks with a diluted balanced fertilizer to promote foliage development and flowering.
It thrives best with temperatures between 18 and 28 °C and ambient humidity of 60 to 80%. It prefers locations with bright, indirect light, as intense direct sun can cause leaf and spathe burn. Good ventilation, combined with high humidity and filtered light, will promote vigorous growth and continuous flower production.
