Prosthechea trulla (The Scooped Anacheilium)

The tropical epiphytic orchid of the New World, Prosthechea trulla, is often confused with Prosthechea cochleata. They are similar in appearance, but P. trulla has a narrower labellum (9–17 mm wide and 9–12 mm long) shaped like a paddle, whereas the lip of P. cochleata is wider (13–26 mm wide and 10–21 mm long), and the sepals and petals of P. cochleata are longer (30–75 mm in length) than those of P. trulla.
